Jordan Rudess to give UK premiere of Roland V-SYNTH GT
Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater is collaborating with Rod Morganstein, the legendary Dixie Dregs drummer, to perform live on stage at Sound Control, Oxford Street, London on Monday April 2nd at 6:30pm, using Rolandís revolutionary new V-Synth GT and the latest in V-Drum technology.
Roland announced their new flagship V-Synth GT Synthesizer at NAMM earlier this year. Combining the V-Synthís famous Elastic Audio Synthesis engine with revolutionary new Articulative Phrase Synthesis technology and never-before-heard sounds, the new V-Synth GT's expression and realism is second to none.
The V-Synth GT is the first synthesizer in the world equipped with AP (Articulative Phrase) Synthesis. This revolutionary form of modelling recreates the ever-changing behaviour, nuance, and sound of an instrument as it's being played. AP Synthesis can use both acoustic and synth waves to create stunningly expressive results, and can be applied for realistic acoustic instrument simulation, as well as sounds never heard before.
By integrating a new dual core V-Synth engine, the V-Synth GT can combine Elastic Audio Synthesis, Vocal Designer Technology and AP Synthesis in real-time. Dream Theater News: SCORE coming August 29th!
Dream Theater's latest live CD and DVD "SCORE" is currently scheduled for release on Aug 29th 2006 on Rhino Records. (date may vary slightly in different countries)
The 3-CD and 2-DVD sets will be available seperately.
Both versions will contain the entire "20th Anniversary World Tour" grand finale recorded live at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on April 1st 2006. (nearly 3 hours of music - over 90 minutes of which was performed with a full orchestra)
The DVD will also contain a 1 hour Documentary tracking the entire career of the band from the very beginnings at the Berklee College Of Music in 1985 all the way to the Radio City Music Hall grand finale. Including rare never before seen footage and interviews with current and previous members of the band.
Also included on the DVD are several live Bonus Tracks from through the years taken from the Portnoy Archives.

Derek Sherinian News: Blood of the Snake featuring Slash and Billy Idol
World-renowned keyboardist Derek Sherinian returns with his 5th solo effort, titled Blood of the Snake due out on August 1st from Inside Out Music. Heralded for his unique blend of progressive rock, jazz/rock fusion and metal, Sherinian continues to push the envelope with Blood of the Snake. Once again, Sherinian has a surrounded himself with an all-star lineup, including Billy Idol, Slash, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dream Theaterís John Petrucci and long-time collaborators Zakk Wylde, Simon Phillips, Tony Franklin, and Brian Tichy.
The lead single from Blood of the Snake is the cover of Mungo Jerryís ìIn the Summertime,î which features Idol on vocals and Slash on guitar. The song, a loose, easy-go-lucky summer jam has been a longtime favorite of Sherinianís and benefits from both Idolís smooth delivery and Slashís sweet guitar licks.
ì"In The Summertime" was my favorite song when I was 3,î begins Sherinian. ìBilly started singing it one day at soundcheck, and we started jamming on it. We agreed it would be a great song to cover one day. Slash was the perfect guitarist for this track."
Wylde also gives his vocal talents a go, appearing on the brooding ìMan With No Name,î which resembles classic-era Ozzy Osbourne.
ìZakk sounds like vintage Ozzy on this track,î acknowledges Sherinian. ìHe sings and plays great on this song."
Sherinian, who can now been seen on tour with Malmsteen, has made a name for himself with stints in such high-profile acts such as KISS, Alice Cooper, and Dream Theater. His last release was 2004ís Mythology, which garnered worldwide acclaim from both fans and press alike, utilizing the talents of Wylde, Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Steve Lukather (TOTO) and Allan Holdsworth.

John Petrucci will be holding a guitar clinic on Sunday 23rd October prior to the UK dates. The event will be hosted bySound Control and held at their Oxford Street shop.
There will be a live performance from 2pm and a short signing session afterwards.
Entrance is, initially, by registration on the Sound ControlWebsite. This is a limited access event, so please click here to register your interest and secure a place.There are only 200 hundred places available.
